Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

The primary responsibility of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is to provide direct physical therapy interventions as planned, delegated, and supervised by the Physical Therapist. This role includes documenting treatments administered and noting progress in medical records to ensure the highest standard of care is provided to residents and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, and administer treatment to residents and patients with temporary or long-term disabilities to alleviate pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing.
  • Ensure that all treatments are delivered in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • Provide clinical support and instruction to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment interventions.
  • Complete required documentation and forms adhering to company policy and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education).
  • Certification from the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) for PTAs, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to follow instructions from a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Exhibit empathy and patience while working with patients.
  • Physical stamina to assist patients with movement and exercises.
