Reports to: Activities Director
Hours: Primarily evenings and weekends (average 12 events per week), typically 4:00p.m.9:30 p.m.
Position Overview The Assistant Activities Director plays a vital role in supporting the overall success of the school's co-curricular programs. This individual serves as the on-site supervisor for contests and performances, ensuring events run smoothly, safely, and in line with district expectations. The Assistant Activities Director provides leadership in the absence of the Activities Director and represents the school with professionalism when working with students, families, coaches, officials, and community members.
Primary Responsibilities
- Event Supervision & Site Management Serve as site supervisor for contests and performances, including lower-level events. Welcome and escort officials, referees, and visiting teams. Monitor and address fan, coach, official, and worker behavior to ensure a positive environment. Assist with event set-up and tear-down, ensuring facilities are ready before and after use. Main lead on stand alone lower level athletics (this is an area we see as an opportunity and growth for our teams)
- Concessions Oversight Coordinate with sponsors and groups scheduled to run concessions. Meet concession workers, provide guidance, and close concessions at the end of events. Ensure proper clean-up and accountability by the working group.
- Event Operations Meet ticket takers, orient them, and release them at the end of their shift. Ensure scorer's table and press box workers are trained, supported, and filling their roles; fill in when needed. Operate or troubleshoot event technology (microphone, scoreboard, sound system, music).
- Leadership Coverage Act on behalf of the Activities Director when they are not present. Serve as a visible leader at events, upholding school values and expectations.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Program Development Provide input on event operations, student leadership, and activity logistics. Assist with communication to families, coaches, and staff when needed.
- Recruitment & Hiring Support Participate in interviews and candidate evaluations for activity/athletic staff as the role develops. Provide feedback on staffing and program needs.
