Description - Reporting to the Director for Alumni Affairs, the Assistant Director for Alumni Affairs will coordinate programs that strengthen the student-to-alumni pipeline and foster lifelong engagement with the University. The Assistant Director will oversee the Student Ambassador and Alumni Ambassador Programs, develop engagement opportunities for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD), and serve as the staff liaison to assigned alumni Interest Communities. The position will work closely with students, alumni volunteers, and campus partners to advance mentorship, networking, volunteerism, leadership development, and lifelong learning. Additional evening and weekend hours will be required to support programs, meetings, and events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the implementation of engagement strategies that strengthen the student-to-alumni pipeline and foster lifelong relationships with the University.
  • Oversees the University's Student Ambassador and Alumni Ambassador Programs by recruiting, training, mentoring, recognizing, and supporting ambassadors who serve as advocates for Hofstra and its alumni community.
  • Develops and coordinates engagement opportunities for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD), creating meaningful experiences that promote networking, mentorship, volunteerism, leadership development, and lifelong learning.
  • Serves as the staff liaison for the GOLD, Alpha Phi Alpha, and AOB Interest Communities by partnering with volunteer leaders to develop programming, strengthen alumni participation, and support community-specific engagement initiatives.
  • Leads the assessment and continuous improvement of assigned programs by utilizing participation data, constituent feedback, and industry best practices to evaluate effectiveness, strengthen engagement, and enhance the participant experience.
  • Identifies and implements emerging trends and best practices in student engagement, young alumni engagement, volunteer management, and alumni relations to support departmental goals.
  • Represents the Office of Alumni Affairs on University committees and collaborative initiatives related to student engagement and alumni involvement, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. Additional hours on weeknights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required. Two to three years of experience in development, alumni affairs, or related fields. Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and customer service. Experience with project coordination, marketing, and event planning. Knowledge of web-based services, as well as print and electronic publications. Experience with Raiser's Edge and the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience and knowledge of social media platforms. Must have superior written, oral, and interpersonal skills, in addition to strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to build authentic relationships with a culturally and racially diverse alumni network. Must be able to travel locally and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary/Salary Range - $70,000 - $75,000
