The Senior Accountant plays a critical, strategic role within the finance department, working in close tandem with the Financial Controller and the Accountant. This position is designed as a direct succession path to the Financial Controller role. The ideal professional will master traditional senior accounting duties while demonstrating the flexibility and business acumen required to absorb the diverse, high-level operational tasks currently managed by the Financial Controller. Operating within a luxury hospitality environment, this role ensures all financial practices support objective accountability and seamlessly align with our Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and Relais and Chateaux service standards.
Collaborate daily with the Financial Controller and Accountant to oversee the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, and accurate financial reporting.
Progressively assume comprehensive Controller-level responsibilities, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal audits.
Exhibit exceptional flexibility to take on dynamic, cross-departmental tasks as business needs dictate, supporting property operations far beyond standard accounting parameters.
Establish and maintain objective accountability across all financial metrics, departmental key performance indicators, and vendor partnerships.
Ensure all financial, administrative, and back-of-house operations reflect and uphold the rigorous service expectations of Forbes Travel Guide and Relais and Chateaux standards.
Assist in evaluating financial risks and ethical vulnerabilities, ensuring strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Champion continuous process improvement within the finance department to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data security.
Partner strategically with department heads and executive leadership to provide actionable financial insights that drive overall property performance.
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification is strongly preferred).
Substantial progressive accounting experience, ideally with exposure to luxury hospitality, resort operations, or complex multi-departmental environments.
Proven ability to operate strategically while maintaining acute attention to detail in day-to-day transactional accounting tasks.
High degree of adaptability and willingness to step outside a rigid job scope to solve complex, real-time business challenges.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable operational strategies.
