Associate Medical Director

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Associate Medical Director to join our dedicated hospice team. In this role, you will provide medical leadership and clinical oversight to interdisciplinary care teams, helping ensure patients and families receive exceptional end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. You will serve as a trusted physician partner, guiding symptom management, supporting care planning, and promoting excellence in hospice and palliative medicine.

What you'll do:

• Promotes and practices the Empath and Hospice Program mission, vision and values and follows all policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with the patient's attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient's plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services and to ensure pain and symptom management.
• Serves as a medical resource and educator to hospice staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management and end of life issues hospice and palliative care.
• Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Actively participates in IDG conferences as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.
• Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the RNCM to initiate and evaluate treatments for pain/symptom management. Performs clinical visits via telehealth, as well as in the home or inpatient setting and provides regulatory visits to meet recertification requirements.
• Completes ongoing assessments of the patient's terminal diagnosis and accurately evaluates eligibility for recertification using the Local Coverage Determination (LDC) criteria.

What you'll need:

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
• Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
• Minimum of one (1) year recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
• Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
• Current Federal DEA registration.
• Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
