Associate Principal, Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Lewisville Learning Center/ Flexible School Day Program Director

Direct and manage the flexible hours (evening) instructional program and supervise operations and personnel at campus level for LLC and the Flexible School Program. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service, accelerated learning, and increased graduation rate for all students. Oversee compliance with district and state policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of all Lewisville Learning Center activities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Master's degree in Educational Administration Texas principal or Texas mid-management certificate LEAD appraiser Bilingual preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience serving students at risk for failure, with documented evidence of increased student achievement
  • Minimum of three years as secondary assistant principal
  • Minimum of five years in 5A-6A school district

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Management

  • Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs designed to: o Accomplish drop out recovery, o Credit recovery/dual credit, o Other activities related to college readiness.
  • Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate
  • Walk classrooms regularly to assess aligned curricular implementation and instructional rigor through research-based best-practices
  • Regularly meet with Building Leadership Team and evening school teachers about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education programs
  • Model and promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process

School/Organizational Climate

  • Model and promote a positive, caring climate for learning
  • Implement creative ways to meet students' needs in order to help students accelerate learning and to increase course completion and high school graduation
  • Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from staff and alternative education students; recognize excellence and achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

School/Organization Improvement

  • Determine and build a common vision with staff of evening-school alternative education school improvements: direct planning activities, scheduling, implement programs, and collaborate with staff to ensure attainment of the school's mission
  • Identify, analyze, and apply research findings, (e.g., Lazotte, Schlechty, Marzano, Schmoker, Gray & Streshly, Zmuda, Krklis, & Kline, Popham, etc.) to facilitate alternative education school improvement
  • Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members
  • Develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records to track progress on campus performance objectives, individual student academic and behavioral progress, and academic excellence indicators, including Personal Graduation Plans
  • Maintain impeccable attendance accounting

Personnel Management

  • Interview, select, assign and orient new staff according to student needs
  • Define expectations for staff performance as related to teaching the district curriculum, implementing best-practice instructional strategies with differentiation, using positive classroom management, and employing clear, concise communication
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with assigned staff
  • Document performance of all campus employees when necessary
  • Make recommendations to Employee Services on renewal, non-renewal, suspension, or termination of assigned staff
  • Work with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional learning activities
  • Confer with staff regarding their professional growth, assisting them to develop and accomplish goals

Fiscal Management

  • Comply with applicable Board policies, state and federal laws, and regulations
  • Develop Night School budget based on documented needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs; keep programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal control; accurately report fiscal information
  • Compile, maintain, and store all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents, including accurate and timely reports of student progress, attendance and textbooks
  • Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus
  • Ensure compliance of district policies and state/federal laws regarding management of activity funds
  • Develop a master schedule based on student needs/requests
  • Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs
  • Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials
  • Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, maintenance and other support services with day school administration

Student Management

  • Ensure students are adequately supervised during instructional and non-instructional periods
  • Work with accelerated program faculty and encourage student input to develop a research-based student management system that results in positive student behavior. Follow all behavior intervention plans and individual educational plans per district, State and Federal policies/laws.
  • Ensure school rules are uniformly observed and student discipline is appropriate and equitable
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues (including Personal Graduation Plans) with parents, students, and teachers
