Position Overview
We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Attorney with 3+ years of experience to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will focus primarily on intellectual property (IP) litigation (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets) and contract/commercial disputes. This is a great opportunity for a motivated mid-level associate who thrives in a dynamic, trial-oriented practice at a respected midsize firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all aspects of commercial litigation, with a focus on IP matters (patent infringement, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and unfair competition cases) and contract disputes.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs; conduct depositions; prepare for hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Work closely with partners and clients on case strategy, analysis, and resolution.
- Manage complex litigation matters efficiently while delivering high-quality, client-focused results.
- Participate in appellate work as needed.
- Contribute to the firm's collaborative culture through mentoring junior staff and business development.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California Bar (in good standing).
- 3+ years of relevant commercial litigation experience, ideally with substantial exposure to IP litigation (especially patents) and contract/commercial disputes.
- Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience in federal court and complex civil litigation preferred.
- Technical or scientific background (e.g., engineering, computer science, biology) is a plus for patent work but not required.
- Self-starter with excellent judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
