Job Description

Prudential bank regulatory is the rare practice where the statutes are the easy part — the lawyers who get hired at the senior level are the ones who understand how the Fed, OCC, and FDIC actually run an exam and what a supervisory finding means before it's written down.

An elite global firm with a top-ranked financial services regulatory practice is hiring a senior bank regulatory associate (7+ years) in Washington, DC. Cravath scale for class year, plus bonus eligibility.

You'd advise domestic and foreign banking organizations and their holding companies across the full prudential framework — capital, liquidity, governance, and risk management — with the client-facing role and regulator-facing credibility that come with a seat at this level.

The work includes:

  • Bank holding company and national bank regulatory counseling, including Volcker Rule and CRA matters
  • Affiliate and insider transaction rules, control determinations, and permissible activities and investments
  • Regulatory applications and notices, chartering and licensing, and bank M&A
  • Examinations, supervisory findings, and enforcement before the Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, and state banking regulators

What you bring:

  • 7+ years advising banks and bank holding companies on prudential regulatory matters — from a firm, a federal banking agency, or in-house
  • Working command of the supervisory process, not just the rulebook
  • Strong drafting and client-management skills at a senior level
  • DC bar admission or eligibility for prompt admission

What you get:

  • A practice where the number of true prudential specialists is small and the demand from banks and fintech entrants keeps growing
  • A senior seat with direct regulator contact and a real path toward counsel or partner
  • Cravath scale for class year, plus bonus eligibility
