Job Description

StarLine Tutoring is an education venture focused on making mathematics more accessible, digestible, and enjoyable.

Founded in 2021, StarLine began as a tutoring operation and has grown through personalized instruction, curriculum development, and a strong emphasis on understanding how students actually learn. I’ve spent the last several years developing curricula, documenting pedagogical strategies, working directly with students and families, and building the foundation of what I believe can become something much larger.

Now, I’m looking to build the business beyond what one person can do alone.

We’re entering a new stage focused on building the infrastructure, systems, and strategy necessary to scale StarLine responsibly. The long-term goal is bigger than tutoring: to democratize access to high-quality mathematics education and change the way students experience the subject.

This is an unpaid, equity-oriented, remote opportunity for someone who wants to help build StarLine from an early stage.

You would work directly with the founder to develop StarLine’s business development and growth strategy. This means helping us move beyond relying primarily on referrals and personal networks and building a repeatable system for finding, engaging, and converting new clients and partners.

Responsibilities

You may work on:

  • Developing and executing cold outreach strategies
  • Identifying prospective students, families, schools, organizations, and other partners
  • Building and managing an early-stage sales pipeline
  • Developing partnerships and referral channels
  • Refining StarLine’s messaging and positioning
  • Conducting market research and identifying growth opportunities
  • Creating outreach materials and communication strategies
  • Tracking outreach and conversion metrics
  • Helping determine which growth channels are actually worth pursuing
  • Building processes that can eventually be delegated or outsourced

You’ll have significant room to shape the role. I’m looking for someone who can think strategically, execute independently, and bring ideas to the table, rather than someone who simply waits for instructions.

What We're Looking For

You do not need a college degree, nor do you need years of experience.

0–3 years of experience is completely fine. Experience in any of the following is helpful:

  • Business development
  • Sales or client acquisition
  • Cold outreach
  • Consulting
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Account management
  • Partnerships
  • Marketing
  • Education
  • Customer success

More important than your resume is your ability to communicate, build relationships, take initiative, and genuinely care about what we’re trying to accomplish.

You should be:

  • Passionate about education and/or mathematics
  • Comfortable reaching out to people you don't know
  • Curious and willing to experiment
  • Self-directed and accountable
  • Comfortable working remotely
  • Excited by early-stage environments
  • Willing to challenge ideas and contribute your own
  • Interested in having real ownership in something you help build

This is not a traditional employment opportunity, and there is currently no salary attached to the role. The intention is to bring together a small group of people who can contribute meaningfully to StarLine’s next stage and participate in the ownership/equity structure we establish as the business is formalized.

I'm looking for builders, not applicants. If you’re excited by the idea of helping build an education company from the ground up, I’d love to hear from you.
