Team: I have a team of 13 FTEs that are a mix of Capability Managers/Product Owners, Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts / Test and Project Manager
Job Description
As a Capability Manager / Product Owner, the position will be responsible for ensuring the support of strategic and tactical financial projects necessary to meet the business needs of UHC Finance including general ledger accounting, financial controls & reporting, and financial data repositories & sub-ledgers.
This role serves as a key liaison between the business, scrum teams and the technical leadership, requiring exceptional communication skills, organizational skills, accounting acumen, and expertise in software development lifecycle management. These skills are critical to understanding the needs of our business stakeholders, managing and prioritizing the backlog, and communicating the strategic direction to team members.
The candidate will provide subject matter expertise for financial applications, help shape technical solutions, collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements in features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and take a lead role in user acceptance test planning and execution.
The Capability Manager will work within the scrum team, lead backlog refinement, AGILE Lean refinement and provide communication of status.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate the performance of one or more product teams
- Collaborate with business partners to understand business needs, facilitate the creation of features and user stories
- Provide status updates as required by program directives & PMCs
- Manage the backlog of supported teams, supervise and approve the release planning with the RTE and other members of the PMC
- Define acceptance criteria for features
- Accept Features and User Stories
- Promote financial data integrity, controls, compliance, and auditability between our accounting applications, upstream sources, downstream Financial Systems, and the General Ledger
- Master knowledge of the systematic processing of financial data from upstream source systems through our accounting functions/systems to downstream sources along with supporting business processes
- Manage 1 direct report
- Become a SME on financial accounting file layouts / API / JSON and provide input to IT on best approaches for financial data integrations
- Identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, or related field
3+ years experience in Agile Project Management
2+ years experience working with financial systems
Demonstrated ability to manage a team
Advance level of proficiency with PC based software programs such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to automate processes
Track record of delivering high quality results
Demonstrates critical thinking and intellectual curiosity with the ability resolve issues/questions
Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and an ability to communicate with senior management
Ability to internalize, interpret and document complex scenarios clearly and concisely
Assets
Previous Healthcare Industry experience
Knowledge of SAS and SQL, preferred.
Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to automate processes.
