Health Care Technician I (S)

As a Health Care Technician I, you will have the rewarding opportunity to enhance the quality of life and maintain the dignity of our residents. Part of caring for our residents is taking them for walks or rides on our beautiful campus, teaching them recreational skills, and supporting them with completing their Activities of Daily Living (ADL's).

Salary Range: $35,360.00 - $44,62.00

A Sign-on bonus of $2,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Ability to learn principles and practices of health care techniques for nursing assistants
  • Ability to learn safety measures
  • Ability to recognize patient needs and communicate them accurately
  • Ability to learn to follow hospital, unit and nursing policies and procedures
  • Ability to work with difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment

Management Preferences: Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders and/or specialized dementia.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Certified as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts: In addition to our standard work schedules, flexible schedules may be available. Standard Work Schedules Shift Premium:

  • First Shift: (6:45 A 3:15 P) 5% Weekend
  • Second Shift: (2:45 P 11:15 P) 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
  • Third Shift: (10:45 P 7:15 A) 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend

Work schedules include weekend and holiday rotations. Flexibility is required for training and education purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.

ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER: Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: We are a specialized long-term care facility focusing on maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs whose level of support extends beyond that which can be provided in family or community living settings. We are committed to providing individualized compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff.
