Class A Lead Support Driver

The Class A Lead Support Driver is responsible for traveling to various locations to provide coverage for route drivers during vacations, absences, or business needs. While travel is primarily regional, occasional out-of-region support may be required. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring strong focus, accountability, and adherence to all safety standards. Drivers are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others at all times.

Key responsibilities include loading, hauling, and delivering food waste on intra- and interstate routes with multiple stops ranging from 15-25 per day by routing determined by the Company. Drivers must operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles per DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws. They are also responsible for operating manual or electric pallet jack as needed, utilizing a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, using hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment, maintaining basic truck equipment, utilizing the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and as otherwise required, and maintaining paperwork and submitting all documentation to the appropriate party. Drivers must also report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.

Minimum qualifications include a Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance), a clean MVR and PSP, being at least 23 years of age and having a minimum of 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience OR 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience IF a graduate from a Truck Driving School or 1 year of Military experience, a stable work history, passing a pre-employment drug screen, passing a pre-employment background check, and the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.

Preferred qualifications include 5 years Class A driving experience with no accidents or incidents, time management and ability to maintain route consistency, communication and customer service skills, and knowledge of hydraulics.

Working conditions/physical requirements include regularly lifting, pulling, and/or pushing up to 70 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting, shoveling, or reaching overhead, being able to regularly pull/roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes, ability to handle unpleasant odors from food waste/farms, and ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
