Apply NowThe Clinical Nurse Coordinator Ortho Trauma at Mission Health in Asheville, NC is a frontline leadership and clinical role within our Orthopedic and Trauma service line, providing direct patient care while coordinating unit operations to ensure safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered services. As a Registered Nurse in this position, you will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care to patients with acute and post‑operative orthopedic and trauma conditions. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will oversee and participate in assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for a diverse adult patient population, ensuring adherence to evidence‑based practice, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
In this role, you will function as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff, assisting with patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers while prioritizing patient safety and quality outcomes. You will help coordinate staffing assignments, support charge nurse responsibilities, and escalate concerns to leadership as needed. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will support precepting and onboarding of new team members, contribute to ongoing staff education related to orthopedic and trauma care, and promote a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous professional growth consistent with Mission Health’s values.
You will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, collaborate on discharge planning and patient education, and advocate for patients and families to ensure they understand treatment plans, post‑operative care, pain management strategies, mobility goals, and follow‑up requirements. The position involves frequent coordination with surgical services, emergency services, rehabilitation, and ancillary departments to facilitate smooth transitions of care and timely interventions. Attention to clinical documentation, medication administration accuracy, infection prevention, fall prevention, and pressure injury prevention is essential.
