Convenience Center Manager

Wilson County Government is seeking a Convenience Center Manager for its Solid Waste Services department. This part-time temporary position offers no benefits and is not to exceed 1000 hours in a rolling calendar year.

Under general supervision, the manager will coordinate and direct the operation of a Wilson County Convenience Center. This role involves inspecting solid waste and recyclable materials brought to the center by residents of Wilson County. The manager will open and close the center, greet each customer, provide information about the center, and direct the customer to appropriate disposal or recycling containers. The manager is responsible for maintaining center records and reports to the Solid Waste Services Administrator.

Essential job functions include opening and closing the center, meeting and greeting each customer, maintaining a friendly and courteous attitude, demonstrating how to prepare recyclables, explaining county policies, assisting in traffic control, directing customers to appropriate facilities, performing groundskeeping duties, and reporting items that need repair or maintenance.

Additional job functions may include performing other related work as required.

Minimum training and experience: High school graduate preferred. Some experience in equipment operation, manual labor, and customer service required; or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be available to work 11-hour rotating workdays including weekends as required.
