Job Goal: To operate the District's courier service and ensure safe and timely delivery of mail and packages
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record including the ability to remain insurable under school system insurance requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform assignments as directed with accuracy, attention to detail, and within established time frames
- Ability to use technology to communicate and to produce/submit required reports
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and to exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force
- Ability to engage in prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, and working in indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to meet suitability criteria (background check) under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
- Performs duties and represents the District in a courteous, positive, and professional manner
- Delivers mail and other designated items and materials to all District locations in a safe and timely manner
- Maintains delivery van including cleaning, scheduling maintenance, and reporting operational concerns as necessary
- Reports any problems that prohibit delivery of items to Supervisor
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility
- Maintains confidentiality of contents being transported to different locations
- Produces, maintains, and transmits information, records, and reports in an accurate and timely manner
- Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system
- Demonstrates reliability in attendance, punctuality, and task performance
- Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
