Relate Search has partnered with a leading retail organization in its search for a Director Of Transportation to oversee its transportation strategy and serve as the primary liaison with a key logistics partner. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, improving transportation performance, and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of goods across a growing supply chain. The Director will work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to optimize transportation operations, strengthen performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. The role will also provide oversight of transportation data and processes, including EDI, Advance Ship Notices (ASNs), rate requests, and related reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transportation partnership with the organization's logistics provider, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring clear alignment around shipping requirements, delivery schedules, fulfillment, and service expectations.
• Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across transportation operations by partnering with logistics leadership to optimize freight movement, delivery performance, efficiency, and service levels.
• Champion transportation safety and compliance, ensuring operations adhere to applicable regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Logistics, Distribution, Buying, Quality, and other stakeholders to address challenges, improve execution, and develop innovative transportation solutions.
• Leverage transportation data and performance metrics to identify opportunities, measure results, and drive accountability, while providing leadership oversight of EDI, Advance Ship Notices (ASNs), transportation rate requests, and related reporting and data flow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven ability to lead complex logistics partnerships and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong knowledge of transportation safety, compliance, and industry best practices, with experience driving continuous improvement.
• Exceptional communication, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
