This position is involved in the operation of light equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of parks, buildings, playgrounds, trees, streets, sidewalks, drainage, and general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weed eats and landscapes town outdoor areas
- Rake or blow leaves from grounds, parking lots & sidewalks
- Tree trimming
- Installs holiday decorations
- Prepares and cleans up for special events
- Empties trash cans
- Sweeps and mops floors
- Cleans town facilities and restrooms
- Change light bulbs
- Paint indoors and outdoors
- Pressure wash sidewalks or other structures
- Operate a town vehicle or pick-up truck
- Cuts grass, weeds, and brush; plants flowers, trees and shrubbery
- Removes paper and refuse from public grounds
- Follows orders given by supervisor
- Completes daily work logs

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some experience in operating light or heavy equipment
- Valid State of FL Drivers License
- CDL is recommended
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Some knowledge of tools used in grounds and building maintenance.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out oral instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor, sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, facility users and residents
- Ability to perform work without close supervision at times
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math problems
- Ability to operate vehicles and trucks
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted, or more with assistance
- Mechanical ability to troubleshoot causes of mechanical failure and determine appropriate corrective action
- Ability to participate in, understand and implement appropriate OSHA training
Work Conditions:
When handling heavy material and mechanical equipment other personnel are available for assistance.
Work requires kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders etc. during various work operations.
Exposure to one or more of the following: moving vehicles and objects, sharp edges, electric shock, high work, inclement weather conditions and in some cases slippery working surfaces.
