The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the frozen department, ensuring product quality, strong in-stock conditions, and an organized, customer-ready environment. This role drives sales performance, controls shrink, and leads the frozen team to execute company standards efficiently and safely.
Department Operations
- Oversee receiving, stocking, rotation, and inventory control of frozen products
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and temperature integrity of all items
- Maintain consistent in-stock conditions and reduce out-of-stocks
- Manage backroom freezer organization and product flow
Customer Service & Sales
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with product inquiries
- Maintain fully stocked, faced, and visually appealing freezer cases
- Execute promotional displays, pricing, and signage accurately
- Support sales growth through strong execution and availability
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and supervise frozen department employees
- Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity and completion
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented environment
Merchandising & Standards
- Ensure proper rotation (FIFO) and removal of damaged or expired items
- Maintain clean, organized freezer cases and aisles
- Execute planograms, seasonal resets, and display standards
Food Safety & Compliance
- Monitor freezer temperatures and ensure food safety compliance
- Report equipment issues and safety concerns promptly
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
Operational & Financial Support
- Assist with inventory counts, shrink control, and ordering accuracy
- Track department performance including sales and labor efficiency
- Support labor planning to meet productivity goals
Qualifications
- Previous grocery or frozen department experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work in cold environments and fast-paced settings
- Basic math and computer skills
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
