Full Stack / Backend Developer (Backend-Focused)


Location: Newark, NJ area

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (W2)


Requirements:

  • Experience with Python, Java, and JavaScript; working in distributed systems, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and design methodology
  • Experience with Java services using Spring CLI, Maven, Microservices, multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing
  • Frameworks: Spring Boot, Node.js (Full/MEAN/MERN stack)
  • Data Store: Non-relational and relational data structures; MongoDB; BPM tools
  • Data Streaming: SQS, Kinesis
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with business partners to develop high-quality applications
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development
  • Recent experience building enterprise GenAI solutions, including AI agents, chatbots, or RAG applications
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock or other enterprise LLM platforms
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Java-related technologies on Unix or Linux
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with backend technologies including JBoss, Spring Boot, REST
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with client-side technologies including React, JavaScript, JSON, REST


Knowledge/Understanding of:

  • Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): consumption and development; implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns; web service technologies such as APIs, REST, JSON, JDBC
  • Experience with AWS AgentCore
  • Unit, interface, and end-user testing concepts and tooling (functional and non-functional)
  • Automated testing, agile development methodologies, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Accessibility awareness
  • Software security skills including secure coding, web application security, and DevSecOps; solid grasp of security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature, JWT, SSL, web service proxies, firewall, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0)
  • DevOps tools and practices: branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket, or Subversion; DevOps, Jenkins
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): monitoring and logging techniques
  • AWS core services such as CloudWatch and CodeDeploy
