Jefferson Health is seeking an experienced, board-certified Geriatrician to join Jefferson Abington Hospital in a unique role combining clinical practice with leadership of our ACGME-accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program.
This full-time position offers a 0.8 FTE clinical / 0.2 FTE Program Director structure, providing the opportunity to maintain an active clinical practice while helping shape the education and development of the next generation of geriatricians.
Position Highlights
80% Clinical Geriatrics / 20% Fellowship Program Leadership
Serve as the ACGME-designated Program Director for the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship
Lead curriculum development, accreditation activities, program evaluation, and continuous improvement
Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate fellows
Partner with faculty on teaching effectiveness, competency-based education, and faculty development
Provide mentorship and career guidance to fellows throughout their training
Promote fellow and faculty scholarly activity, quality improvement, and educational innovation
Collaborate with Jefferson GME leadership and interdisciplinary clinical teams
Maintain a clinical practice caring for older adults across the continuum of care
Program Leadership
As Program Director, you will have responsibility and authority for the overall direction and administration of the fellowship. Key areas of leadership include:
ACGME compliance and accreditation
Fellowship recruitment and selection
Curriculum and educational program development
Clinical Competency Committee processes and ACGME milestones
Annual Program Evaluation and improvement initiatives
Faculty supervision and development
Fellow assessment, mentorship, advancement, and remediation
Scholarly activity and quality improvement
Collaboration with institutional GME leadership
Qualifications
Candidates must have:
MD or DO degree
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship
Board certification in Geriatric Medicine through ABIM or ABFM
Current or eligibility for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license
Minimum of three years of faculty experience within an ACGME-accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship or related residency program
Demonstrated experience in graduate medical education, including teaching, supervision, and trainee evaluation
Prior program leadership or administrative experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate ongoing involvement in scholarly activity, quality improvement, or educational innovation.
