GSRP Support Staff (Non-union/Non-benefit position)

Location: Romulus Early Childhood Center

Work Year: Program Calendar (approximately 9 months)

Workdays/Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 3:30pm Every other Fridays 8:00am to 11:30am 29.75 hours / week

Reports To: Supervisor of Early Childhood Education

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience or training in early childhood.
  • Neat in appearance, pleasant personality, and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to reflect on ways to increase effectiveness.
  • Ability to get along with and work well with staff, children, and parents.
  • Have basic knowledge of how to use computers and apps.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the children in a positive manner.
  • Practice Health & Safety Standards.
  • Disinfect the toys, cots, and other equipment in your assigned classroom(s)/assigned area.
  • Use the laundry room to wash and dry the bedding.
  • Provide breaks for the team members in your classroom(s)/area.
  • Assist in the room where needed.
  • Keep equipment and supplies organized and neat in appearance.
  • Accept supervision and feedback as positive.
  • Work as a team with your teacher and assistant teacher.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds in supplies, which requires bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • The employee must be able to use a variety of instructional materials in the classroom.
  • The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objects.
  • The employee must use keyboards, tools, and other controls.
  • The employee must sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.
  • The employee must be able to move about the assigned location during the day.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment will vary and can range from soft to loud. Often the noise level in the work environment will be moderate to loud.
  • The employee is required to interact with students, staff, parents / guardians, administration and occasionally with the public.
  • At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
  • Salary: $16.00 / hr. Grant funded Position 29.75 Hours per week
