The Head Of Community Growth role is central to our ability to achieve our mission. As one of our first full-time hires, your contributions will have a direct and meaningful impact on our growth trajectory from day one. If successful, you will play a central role in shaping the future of the global information landscape.

You will own the development and growth of Aemula's writer community, working directly with independent writers, journalists, and thought leaders to help them succeed on Aemula. This is a strategic and deeply hands-on role encompassing outreach, partnerships, community design, user experience, and creator success. Responsibilities include:

• Build and grow Aemula's network of independent journalists and writers
• Establish and nurture long-term relationships with creators and early adopters
• Design outreach programs and partnerships to accelerate writer onboarding and publishing
• Develop the support systems, resources, and communication tools creators need to thrive
• Advocate for creators, ensuring our product decisions reflect real community needs
• Work directly with creators to help them learn our creator tools, incentives, and governance
• Collaborate with the product team to shape publication onboarding and creator tools
• Inform platform design around creator incentives, content visibility, and collaboration
• Lead thinking around creator rewards and community-driven reputation systems
• Plan and execute periodic grants, contests, and special initiatives to reward creators
• Manage communications, marketing, and outreach for these programs
• Coordinate internal processes to ensure fair, transparent, and incentive-aligned execution
• Lead creator-focused marketing to grow the writer base and increase reader engagement
• Develop messaging and materials to communicate Aemula's value to independent creators
• Help shape public narrative around decentralized journalism and Aemula's mission

• A passion for the future of journalism, information integrity, and community-driven systems
• Deep familiarity and connections within independent journalism and online communities
• Expertise in audience development, creative partnerships, or editorial leadership
• Experience building or managing creator communities, writer networks, or newsrooms
• Strong communication skills and an ability to build trust with writers across ideologies and styles
• A bias toward action, experimentation, and talking directly to users
• Confidence working in ambiguity and creating structure where none exists

Full-Time | New York, NY | In-Office

$100,000 base salary

Substantial equity

As an early-stage company, we intentionally offer a compensation package weighted more heavily towards equity than cash. The below-market base salary for this role is accompanied with a substantial equity grant designed to give our earliest team members meaningful ownership in the company. We also offer the flexibility to exchange a portion of prospective cash compensation for additional equity.
