This is a full-time 190 day per year position with a salary range of $26.41 - $31.21. IMESD is a PERS employer offering full benefits for employee and family. We also offer tuition reimbursment for professional growth and development.
PRIMARY ROLE: Under supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, this position will provide speech and language screenings for school aged children and assist with a prescribed treatment plan.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in each responsibility and essential function of the position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individual will hold a valid driver's license and have reliable, insured transportation. If selected for the position, individual will complete a pre-employment background check.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: AA Degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program, or BA in Communications Disorders Currently hold or be eligible within six months of employment Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certification from the Oregon Board of Examiners of Speech Pathology and Audiology.

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Adapts educational materials and equipment for the purpose of providing intervention and/or meeting the individual student's need. 2. Conduct speech and language screenings without interpretation, utilizing screening protocols specified by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist. 3. Provide direct treatment assistance to students following the written lesson plans or protocols developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). 4. Document student progress, without interpretation of the findings, towards meeting objectives listed in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), and report information to the supervising SLP. 5. Collects data on student achievements for the purpose of documenting activities, preparing reports, and/or updating IEP/IFSP logs. 6. Perform maintenance checks on assistive technology, audiometric or other electronic equipment used in the program. 7. Prepare materials, assist with clerical duties and assist with data collection during intervention sessions conducted by SLP. 8. Prepare charts, records, graphs and other displays of data as directed. 9. Participate with the SLP on research projects, in-service trainings and public relations programs. 10. Sign and initial therapy notes for review and co-signature by the supervising SLP. 11. Assist the SLP in scheduling evaluations, appointments and therapy sessions. 12. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records. 13. Attend Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) and/or IEP meetings as a participant of the team with the SLP when requested. 14. Understand student's speech and language levels and IEP objectives. 15. Understand and implement basic communication techniques. 16. Utilize approved behavior management strategies with individuals and groups. 17. Attend ESD and school staff meetings as directed. 18.Perform other reasonable duties that from time to time may be assigned to meet the usual and unusual demands placed on the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position involves working at IMESD campuses and/or school districts within the IMESD service area. This position is a full time, ten month position. The typical workweek is M-F, 8 hours a day. There will be occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours. Employee could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials or illnesses during the course of duties. Employee may be exposed to inappropriate student behavior such as hitting, kicking, biting, yelling, cussing and verbal threats. Any changes in contract days will be stipulated in each individual contract. Salary and benefits are established through a negotiated agreement between the IMESD Employee Group and the IMESD Board of Directors. Employee schedule and assignment to be established by Director and/or Assistant Superintendent.
