TeamHealth is seeking an experienced primary care physician to serve as medical director for a new rural health clinic expanding access to high-quality, integrated healthcare throughout Locust, North Carolina, and surrounding communities. This employed position combines direct patient care and physician leadership responsibilities in a collaborative, team-based rural healthcare environment.
The role will initially be part-time with the opportunity to transition to a full-time position as patient volume and clinic growth support expansion. The Medical Director will provide physician leadership, mentor advanced practice clinicians, support quality and regulatory initiatives, and partner with operational leadership to help establish a sustainable, patient-centered rural healthcare practice.

Compensation
- Competitive hourly compensation for direct patient care with no productivity cap

Position Highlights

Responsibilities
Clinical
- Provides comprehensive primary care services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult patients
- Manages acute illnesses, chronic diseases, preventive care, and wellness services
- Supervises and collaborates with nurse practitioners and physician assistants as required by organizational policy and applicable regulations
- Promotes continuity of care, care coordination, and population health initiatives
- Utilizes evidence-based medicine and quality improvement principles in patient care delivery
- Maintains timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the electronic health record
- Provides physician leadership for the development and growth of a new rural health clinic
- Partners with practice manager and operational leadership to promote high-quality, efficient clinic operations, improve patient access, quality outcomes, and clinician engagement
- Supports recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, retention, scheduling, and clinical coverage planning for advanced practice clinicians
