100% remote
12 Month+ contract (or contract to hire, if desired)
We are seeking a hands-on Principal or Lead level .NET Product Engineer who has used Claude Code extensively to deliver production applications.
This person must combine three areas that are often found in separate profiles:
- Deep, hands-on .NET and cloud architecture experience
- Strong product discovery and business requirements skills
- Advanced Claude Code and agentic development experience
What You’ll Do
You will receive loosely defined operational problems rather than completed user stories. You must be comfortable working directly with supervisors and frontline users to:
- Understand current manual processes
- Identify pain points, exceptions and inefficiencies
- Determine what data is available
- Define success metrics
- Convert business needs into workflows, requirements and acceptance criteria
- Design and deliver the technical solution
You will use Claude Code throughout the full development lifecycle, including:
- Establishing persistent context for an existing codebase
- Documenting architecture and business rules
- Breaking requirements into plans and development tasks
- Configuring specialized agents and agentic workflows
- Generating, reviewing and debugging code
- Building automated tests
- Performing security and quality reviews
- Deploying applications
- Establishing monitoring and alerting
This is not someone who only uses Copilot or Claude for autocomplete, isolated code generation, debugging or unit testing. Towne needs someone who has already created a repeatable agentic engineering workflow and can teach future team members how to use it effectively.
The consultant must be highly independent. There will not initially be a separate product manager, architect, developer and QA engineer assigned to each initiative. This person will own the process from business discovery through a tested production release.
Core Technical Experience
- Expert-level C# and modern .NET
- Cloud-native application architecture, preferably Azure
- APIs, event-driven systems and system integrations
- Modern front-end exposure, such as React or Angular
- Legacy application modernization
- Automated unit, integration and end-to-end testing
- CI/CD, infrastructure as code, security and observability
- Advanced, recent experience using Claude Code
- Context engineering and multi-agent development workflows
- Strong ability to review and validate AI-generated code
Strongly Preferred
- Experience building operational workflow products
- IoT, device, embedded systems or hardware integration experience
- Kiosk, touchscreen, payment-device or card-reader integration
- Experience turning manual business processes into software products
- Experience working with distributed or offshore engineering teams
- Ability to overlap approximately two hours with the New Zealand team, generally through 6:00 p.m. Eastern
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will be able to provide a specific example of personally taking an unclear business need, discovering the requirements, designing the solution, using an agentic development workflow and owning delivery through testing and production.
