Material Handler - Forklift Operator

Only qualified Forklift Operator candidates located near Canaan, CT are to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence.

Required Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification Requirement:

• Ability to obtain forklift certification within two days of employment

Required Experience:

• Intermediate experience operating high reach forklifts or counterbalance forklifts required
• General distribution or warehouse experience
• Experience using material handling equipment
• Experience using RF scanners
• Experience with Manhattan Warehouse Management System (WMS) preferred

Technical Skills:

• Operate high reach counterbalance electric pallet jack and dock stocker equipment
• Use RF scanner and Warehouse Management System (WMS) to maintain inventory accuracy
• Read and interpret distribution documents in English
• Perform product loading unloading replenishment and pallet movement
• Basic computer skills
• General distribution and inventory knowledge

• Ability to cross train and support multiple operational areas
• Ability to work safely in a team environment

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds in some work areas
• Ability to stand walk stoop kneel crouch balance reach push pull and twist throughout the shift
• Ability to frequently use hands for repetitive tasks
• Ability to climb when required
• Normal corrected vision of 20 40 in each eye
• Hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment
• Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment
• Ability to work in moderate to loud noise levels
• Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including safety vest and safety shoes

Responsibilities:

• Safely transport palletized products throughout the distribution center
• Load unload put away replenish and pick palletized inventory
• Operate high reach counterbalance electric pallet jack and dock stocker equipment
• Use RF scanner and Warehouse Management System (WMS) to maintain inventory accuracy
• Ensure product integrity during all material handling activities
• Follow all site safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
• Cross train in multiple operational areas
• Provide backup support as needed
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
