As a Meat Clerk, you'll help prepare and package quality meat products, assist customers, and keep the meat department clean, organized, and fully stocked in a fast-paced grocery environment.

What you'll do

• Prepare, package, and label meat products according to store standards
• Stock, organize, and rotate meat department inventory
• Assist customers with product selection and recommendations
• Monitor product freshness, quality, and appearance
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards throughout the department
• Operate meat cutting, packaging, and department equipment safely
• Assist with inventory management and waste reduction efforts
• Set up displays, promotions, and merchandising presentations
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and food handling standards
• Support department operations and perform other duties as assigned

What we're looking for

• Must be at least 18 years old due to equipment and work restrictions
• Basic knowledge of meat cuts, food safety, and sanitation practices
• Previous meat department, food handling, grocery, retail, or customer service experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate meat cutting and packaging equipment
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Food handler permit required (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Work environment

• Fast-paced grocery store meat department
• Frequent exposure to refrigerated coolers and freezers
• Exposure to meat processing equipment requiring strong safety awareness
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of products up to 50 lbs
