SCOPE
Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies. Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies.
Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives.
Use basic hand tools, i.e., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets & sockets, ruler, calipers.
Set-up, operate, and maintain a variety of hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck).
Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points.
Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance.
Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts.
Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards.
Identify defects and take appropriate measures communicate and follow established non-conformance procedures.
Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes.
Perform all work in accordance with highest quality standards and safety procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
Maintain awareness and understanding of documents published in the BMS Library
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience
Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; required to pass mechanical aptitude test.
Basic reading skills
Must be able to follow directions.
Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
Ability to perform work accurately, timely and thoroughly.
Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem, with thinking in such a way as to produce a new idea and concepts.
Detailed-oriented and self-motivation skills
Must be able to speak/read/write English.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
SALARY RANGE
Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $26 - $29 hr.
