About the Role
The Medicaid Paralegal will play a key role in helping families obtain and maintain Medicaid eligibility for long-term care services. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes attorneys, elder care coordinators, and administrative professionals — all working together to provide peace of mind to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit Medicaid applications and supporting documentation for nursing home and community cases
- Handle all phases of the Medicaid process, including eligibility assessments, asset preservation, and audit responses
- Maintain ongoing communication and follow-up with clients, caregivers, financial institutions, and government agencies
- Support attorneys in legal matters related to Medicaid planning and asset protection
- Track deadlines and ensure all required documentation is timely and accurately submitted
- Maintain detailed and organized case files in accordance with firm policies
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of direct Medicaid application and planning experience in New York State
- Strong understanding of Medicaid eligibility rules, including spousal impoverishment and asset transfer rules
- Experience with crisis planning and community-based Medicaid preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — especially with elderly clients and their families
- Empathy, patience, and a sincere commitment to helping others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with legal case management systems

Salary and Other Compensation:
- The annual salary for this position is between $72,000 – $78,000 Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
