Medical Assistant (Huntsville, AL)

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol. To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol. To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol. May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric. In this role, the ideal candidate will focus on improving the health status and care for individuals with chronic medical conditions, function as a part of an interdisciplinary team and ensures excellence in patient care.

Job Duties Include:

• Working with Population Health Nurse supervisor to identify patients for Medicare annual wellness exams (AWV) and enrollment in chronic care management (CCM) program
• Tracking results of screening tests to close care gaps, close referral appointment loop, schedule diagnostic testing
• Performing AWV exams under the direct supervision of the resident or faculty
• Assists Population Health Nurse supervisor with quality improvement projects
• Scheduling patients for AWV appointments
• Accomplishing weekly and monthly team goals
• Demonstrates commitment to providing outstanding customer service in a manner that is reflective of our mission, values and customer service standards
• Attend and actively participate in training related activities as needed

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 LOCATED IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
• Preferred: Hard Skills: Competent in taking vital signs and recognizing abnormal readings; knowledge of community resources; Experience with electronic medical records
• Soft Skills: Demonstrates professional behavior; Highly organized with an attention to detail; Demonstrates professional and effective written and oral communication skills; Ability to work with patients/family members in a respectful and compassionate manner; Ability to work with a high volume of patients; Looks for opportunities for improvement
• Two years of work experience working with the public.
