We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Plaintiffs' Medical Malpractice Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team. Our practice focuses heavily on complex birth injury, child injury, medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases. This is an outstanding opportunity for a skilled litigation paralegal with substantial plaintiff-side medical malpractice experience who is passionate about helping clients and supporting high-stakes litigation.
✨ Position Overview As a Medical Malpractice Litigation Paralegal, you will work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from initial case investigation through trial and resolution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex litigation files, preparing written discovery, coordinating expert reviews, handling medical records, drafting litigation documents, and managing electronic court filings. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines while working independently in a remote environment.
- ? Key Responsibilities Support attorneys in plaintiff-side medical malpractice, birth injury, child injury, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death litigation.
- Manage and maintain case files from intake through resolution, ensuring deadlines and litigation milestones are met.
- Request, organize, review, summarize, and maintain extensive medical records, billing records, radiology studies, and healthcare documentation.
- Prepare detailed medical chronologies, treatment summaries, damages summaries, and case analysis materials.
- Coordinate expert reviews and communications with physicians, nurses, life care planners, economists, and other consulting experts.
- Draft, prepare, serve, and manage written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, subpoenas, and discovery-related correspondence.
- Assist attorneys with discovery responses, document productions, and litigation strategy.
- Draft and assist in the preparation of motions, briefs, memoranda of law, pleadings, exhibits, and supporting litigation documents.
- Prepare and manage electronic filings in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with all applicable filing requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain litigation calendars, scheduling orders, court deadlines, deposition schedules, expert deadlines, and statutes of limitation.
- Prepare deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial materials, including exhibit binders, witness files, and document collections.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, experts, healthcare providers, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
- Maintain accurate case information and workflow within the firm's case management systems.
- ? QualificationsRequired Minimum of 5 years of plaintiff-side medical malpractice litigation experience.
- Extensive experience obtaining, organizing, reviewing, and summarizing complex medical records.
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing, serving, and managing written discovery throughout all phases of litigation.
- Experience assisting with the preparation of motions, briefs, legal memoranda, pleadings, and supporting litigation documents.
- Significant experience with electronic filing systems and court filing procedures.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures, court rules, filing requirements, and case management practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work, manage competing deadlines, and support a busy litigation practice.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PDF software, litigation support tools, and legal case management systems.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and professional home-office environment.
- Preferred Experience handling birth injury, child injury, catastrophic injury, or wrongful death cases.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare records.
- Experience preparing expert review materials and coordinating expert witness matters.
- Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent legal education.
- Experience supporting attorneys through trial preparation and trial.
