About Us

AVP*SEES Group, headquartered in Vienna, VA, is part of a strategic merger with Atlantic Vision Partners and SEES Group, forming one of the largest eye care networks across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

With 80+ locations, our organization is committed to expanding access to high-quality, patient-centered eye care while advancing clinical innovation. We partner with a broad network of community optometrists and physicians to deliver medical and surgical eye care close to home. We also support continuing education and professional development for our providers and clinical teams.

Role Summary

We are seeking a medically focused Optometrist to join our Nashville team in a referral-driven specialty practice model. This role is designed for clinicians who function as trusted medical partners to both ophthalmologists within the organization and referring optometrists in the community.

This is not a traditional primary care optometry role. Instead, the focus is on managing medical eye disease and supporting surgical care through high-level clinical collaboration and decision-making.

Clinical Scope

This role includes comprehensive medical eye care, including:

  • Pre-operative evaluations and counseling for cataract and refractive surgery
  • Post-operative management of surgical patients
  • Diagnosis and longitudinal management of glaucoma
  • Management of ocular surface disease (including dry eye and inflammatory conditions)
  • Evaluation and treatment of common medical eye conditions in a specialty setting
  • Clinical escalation, collaboration, and documentation to support shared care models

Professional Expectations

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and medical training
  • Communicate effectively with patients, surgeons, and referring providers
  • Work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team
  • Uphold high standards of ethics, professionalism, and patient advocacy
  • Build confidence among referring providers through consistent, high-quality care

Community Engagement & Professional Presence

This role extends beyond the clinic. The Optometrist will:

  • Engage with referring optometrists and healthcare providers
  • Participate in local and regional professional meetings
  • Contribute to professional organizations or educational initiatives
  • Serve as a clinical ambassador for collaborative eye care in the region

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for an Optometrist who:

  • Is medically focused and confident managing complex ocular disease
  • Values collaboration and long-term professional relationships
  • Is respected for clinical judgment, communication, and integrity
  • Prefers a medical optometry role over retail or routine primary care
  • Is motivated to contribute to clinical excellence and practice growth

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active or eligible Tennessee optometry license
  • Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye exams and ocular disease management
  • Interest or experience in medical/surgical co-management (cataract, glaucoma, retina preferred)
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and diagnostic technology (OCT, visual fields, imaging, etc.)
  • Strong patient communication and education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuing education and evidence-based care
  • Willingness to work on-site full-time in Nashville, TN
  • New graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply
