Mentor/Volunteer Opportunity

Thank you for your interest in serving as a mentor/volunteer in the Alamogordo Public Schools. Volunteering is a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Becoming a mentor/volunteer has a positive effect on our community and allows you to make a difference in someone's life. Complete this application to assist APS in ensuring the completion of a criminal history background check and School Personnel Background & Training check (NM HB 128).

Position Available: 2026-2027 SY Mentor/Volunteer

Categories:

• Limited Contact: A contact where the mentor/volunteer is in proximity of a district professional employee, and there is no time where the mentor/volunteer is alone with a student or students in a secluded, isolated, or in a remote area.
• Substantial Contact: A contact where the mentor/volunteer could be in contact with a student or students alone and unsupervised for periods of time. This mentor/volunteer contact could include, but is not limited to, coaching, overnight field trips or competitions, and/or providing supplemental assistance to help address student needs as directed by applicable school staff but in a manner that is not in direct or close proximity of a professional employee and/or head coach, director or advisor.

All mentor/volunteers that fit in the substantial contact category need to complete an online application.
