Nocturnist Critical Care Intensivist

Location: University Hospital, San Antonio, TX
Position Type: Full-time, Employed (W2)

University Health is seeking a Nocturnist Critical Care Intensivist to provide overnight ICU coverage at our 700+ bed, Level-1 trauma center, University Hospital. This role follows a 7-on / 7-off schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with opportunities for additional shifts based on departmental needs and candidate interest.

You will care for a diverse ICU population, including medical, postoperative, and complex pulmonary/critical care patients, within a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment. You will benefit from access to robust institutional resources and support.

Role Highlights:

  • Provide overnight ICU coverage and management of critically ill patients

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care

  • Participate in rounds, care planning, and escalation decisions

  • Support resident and fellow education

  • Engage in quality improvement and program development initiatives

Qualifications

  • Board-certified/board-eligible, fellowship-trained in Critical Care Medicine

  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure

  • Strong clinical judgment and teamwork skills
