is seeking an experienced, highly collaborative
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
to support our
Interventional Cardiology program
in San Francisco. This position works
directly with Interventional Cardiologists
to support the delivery of multidisciplinary care for patients with complex cardiovascular and structural heart disease, and includes close care coordination and relationship-building with
Advanced Heart Failure (AHF)
and
Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS)
teams. This role is ideal for a Nurse Practitioner with a strong cardiology background who thrives in a fast-paced, highly specialized environment and is committed to delivering coordinated, patient-centered cardiovascular care. About the Opportunity The Interventional Cardiology Nurse Practitioner plays a key role in managing patients across the continuum of care, including
outpatient clinic visits, inpatient evaluations, procedural planning, and post-intervention follow-up . The NP partners closely with Interventional Cardiologists to support clinical care delivery while ensuring seamless coordination with Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiothoracic Surgery services as needed. While invasive procedures are performed by Interventional Cardiologists, the NP is instrumental in optimizing patient preparation, education, and post-procedural management, helping ensure high-quality outcomes and a superior patient experience. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Care Provide advanced clinical care to cardiac patients in
both outpatient and inpatient settings , including new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and hospital-based consults
Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with Interventional Cardiologists
Support
pre- and post-procedural care
for interventional and structural heart procedures
Care Coordination & Multidisciplinary Collaboration Work directly with
Interventional Cardiologists
to support day-to-day clinical operations and patient management
Coordinate care with
Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiothoracic Surgery
teams to ensure timely, seamless multidisciplinary care
Participate in
multidisciplinary heart team and valve conferences , contributing to patient selection and care planning
Support transitions of care, including hospital discharge planning and outpatient follow-up
Patient Education & Communication Educate patients and families on cardiovascular conditions, recommended interventions, procedural expectations, and recovery pathways
Conduct
in-person and telehealth visits , and manage patient communication through the
Epic electronic health record (EHR)
Serve as a clinical resource for patient questions, symptom management, and follow-up coordination
Program Support & Quality Initiatives Support quality improvement, patient safety, and patient experience initiatives within Interventional Cardiology
Assist with clinical research activities, registry participation, and program development initiatives as applicable
Conditions & Interventional Focus The Nurse Practitioner will support patients with complex cardiovascular and structural heart disease, including: Structural heart disease
Aortic, Mitral, and Tricuspid valve disease
Advanced heart failure requiring interventional therapies
High-acuity cardiology patients managed by Interventional Cardiology
Requirements Education Graduate of an
accredited Nurse Practitioner program
(MSN or DNP)
Licensure & Certifications Current
California Nurse Practitioner license
DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (CSRC)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
certification
Additional certifications as required by the department
Experience Prior experience in cardiology is required
Experience in
interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, heart failure, or inpatient cardiology strongly preferred
New graduate Nurse Practitioners will not be considered
Demonstrated ability to care for complex cardiac patients and work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment
