Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors patients and collects information for documentation in the patient record
  • Stamps and assembles patient charts
  • Posts laboratory and other tests results
  • Transports patients and documents action on patient record
  • Collects and records vital signs, weights, and other patient data in patient record
  • Administers oxygen under the direction of a licensed Nurse
  • Assists nurses and physicians with sterile procedures
  • Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record
  • Removes peripheral, intravenous therapy lines and urethral tubes
  • Performs bedside testing such as oximetry, ECG, Glucometery, urinalysis and other tests
  • Assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing and walking patients
  • Operates patient monitoring systems specific to unit needs
  • Participates in the nutritional well being of the patient
  • Uses the computerized Patient Care Information System
  • Insures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit
  • Cleans and stores equipment
  • Stocks medical supplies, linens and paper goods
  • Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology
  • Transports x-rays, blood and equipment
  • Delivers patient food trays and nourishment
  • Performs basic clerical duties
  • Assists or provides patient hygiene
  • Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen
  • Organizes care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team
  • Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation
  • Performs other functions as required

Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent plus specialized, short-term training in medical / surgical patient care or the delivery of special care
  • One to three years experience preferred
  • Formal medical technician or military training preferred
  • CNA preferred
