Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights
Responsibilities:
- Monitors patients and collects information for documentation in the patient record
- Stamps and assembles patient charts
- Posts laboratory and other tests results
- Transports patients and documents action on patient record
- Collects and records vital signs, weights, and other patient data in patient record
- Administers oxygen under the direction of a licensed Nurse
- Assists nurses and physicians with sterile procedures
- Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record
- Removes peripheral, intravenous therapy lines and urethral tubes
- Performs bedside testing such as oximetry, ECG, Glucometery, urinalysis and other tests
- Assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing and walking patients
- Operates patient monitoring systems specific to unit needs
- Participates in the nutritional well being of the patient
- Uses the computerized Patient Care Information System
- Insures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit
- Cleans and stores equipment
- Stocks medical supplies, linens and paper goods
- Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology
- Transports x-rays, blood and equipment
- Delivers patient food trays and nourishment
- Performs basic clerical duties
- Assists or provides patient hygiene
- Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen
- Organizes care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team
- Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation
- Performs other functions as required
Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent plus specialized, short-term training in medical / surgical patient care or the delivery of special care
- One to three years experience preferred
- Formal medical technician or military training preferred
- CNA preferred
