Organizes and administers nursing service in the assigned specialty area by assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of operations and patient care. Functions in staff role as needed. Assumes managerial duties as delegated by OR Manager. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in all aspects of the position. Responsible for the orientation of new coworkers and permanent team members in conjunction with the Resource Coordinator and the OR Nurse Clinician. Supports the continuous improvement of quality and service to ensure Mercy's goal of excellence in clinical outcomes and satisfaction of those we serve. LEVEL ONE TRAUMA MAIN OPERATING ROOM

Job Summary
The RN Operating Room Supervisor oversees daily OR operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role provides leadership to nursing and support staff, coordinates workflow, supports regulatory compliance, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Operating Room staff.
  • Coordinate daily OR schedules, staffing, and patient flow.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for team members.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and support departments.
  • Assist with staff development, performance management, and recruitment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Current RN license or RN Temporary Permit in the state of practice.
  • Minimum three (3) years of healthcare experience.
  • Current CPR certification.

Preferred

  • BSN
  • One (1) year or more of Operating Room RN experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • CNOR certification.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
