The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) seeks an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to join its expanding Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Galveston, Texas. The incoming surgeon will practice across a broad spectrum of advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery, supported by the resources of a major academic medical center. • Treat a diverse and complex patient population with exposure to facial trauma and reconstruction, head and neck surgical oncology, microvascular reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
• Teach and mentor learners across an accredited four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency, a one-year non-categorical internship, and student externship experiences.
• Contribute to an active research program that includes multi-institutional clinical trials and prospective and retrospective clinical studies.
• Receive 10% to 20% protected research time during the first two years, along with opportunities to pursue interests in quality, safety, artificial intelligence, aerospace medicine, and emerging technologies.
• Help drive planned program growth in temporomandibular joint surgery, craniofacial surgery, and cosmetic surgery.
• Join a nationally recognized reconstructive surgery program known for its supportive culture, strong training environment, and mission-driven patient care

Candidate Qualifications

Qualified candidates must hold a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, with or without a medical degree, from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental school in the United States or Canada. Candidates must have completed a Commission on Dental Accreditation-approved oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, hold board certification, and qualify for a Texas dental license. Fellowship training in temporomandibular joint and orthognathic surgery is preferred but not required. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, scholarship, complex patient care, and the dental and reconstructive aspects of the specialty.
