The Packaging Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining beverage packaging equipment used in bottling and canning operations. This position ensures products are produced efficiently, meet quality standards, and comply with all food safety, quality, and safety requirements.
Job Duties:
- Equipment Operation
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions
- Operate fillers, seamers, cappers, labelers, packers, case packers, palletizers, conveyors, and depalletizers.
- Perform start-up, operation, monitoring, and shutdown activities.
- Conduct product and package changeovers.
- Make minor equipment adjustments to maintain performance.
- Quality Assurance
- Perform quality checks, including fill levels, labels, coding, and package integrity.
- Complete production and quality documentation.
- Follow GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
- Production Performance
- Meet production, efficiency, and downtime goals.
- Assist with troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
- Safety and Sanitation
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Perform sanitation activities according to established procedures.
What We're Looking For:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Beverage, food, bottling, or canning experience highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on a production line in a food/beverage company
- 1 year of experience in a production environment
Physical Demands:
- Environmental exposure to wet and humid conditions
- Material exposure, moving mechanical parts and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks etc)
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, and/or caustic chemicals.
- Must be able to lift/push-pull/carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period
- Must be able to work in environmental exposure including, but not limited to, freezer and noisy, cold, wet, or humid conditions of 34F or below.
Hours & Workdays:
- 1st Shift (3:00am- 3:00pm) Monday - Sunday with rotating days off, when business requires overtime and weekends mandatory based on business and departmental needs.
