Pay Schedule I, Grade 21, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week You MUST be a merit (full-time), non-merit (part-time), or temporary employee of the Baltimore County General Government to apply for this position. A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Highways & Equipment Maintenance.
Examples Of Duties
Under general supervision, receives, stores, and issues complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment materials, tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Prepares complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment materials and supplies for distribution to users or other locations and departments.
- Receives, stores, delivers, and issues complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment parts and supplies.
- Coordinates stock requirements.
- Locates and orders special or unusual parts from sources not covered under contract.
- Orders various complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment parts and supplies and purchases tools as needed.
- Expedites overdue orders.
- Codifies all items according to various inventory systems.
- Maintains inventory accounting records of materials received and issued.
- Participates in taking periodic inventories.
- Maintains records and files.
- Processes and forwards invoices and the required documentation to the Office of Budget and Finance for payment.
- Operates forklift and other related equipment.
- Coordinates credit card purchases.
- Approves or disapproves expenditures within line items.
- Monitors individual account balances of operational and grant funds.
- Initiates purchases of complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment supplies and equipment in accordance with various schedules.
- Prioritize purchases of new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment.
May serve as lead worker. May assume the duties of the supervisor in his/her absence. May pick up parts from vendors. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent plus at least Four (4) years of storekeeping or warehousing experience, Two (2) years of which involved responsible experience in the storage and issuance of vehicle or heavy equipment parts and supplies, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Entry Level): Knowledge of the methods of receiving, storage and issuing large quantities of complex vehicle and/or heavy equipment supplies, parts, materials, tools and equipment. Thorough knowledge of storeroom and warehouse inventory methods. Skill in taking inventory of supplies and equipment. Skill in maintaining records and files. Skill in performing arithmetic functions. Ability to operate warehouse equipment. Ability to use automated storeroom and warehouse inventory systems. Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Full Performance): Knowledge of County and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill in operating warehouse equipment. Skill in using automated storeroom and warehouse inventory systems. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment. Examination Procedure Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Conditions Of Employment
The work of this classification entails walking, lifting, carrying, travel between work sites and other physical activities.
