Evening / Overnight Phlebotomist 40 hrs/wk


This position works a 40-hour workweek with evening coverage and a rotating schedule that includes every third weekend and two overnight holiday shifts per year. 


Core responsibilities:



  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages using age-appropriate techniques and best practices for safety and comfort.

  • Process and label specimens accurately; ensure chain-of-custody and specimen integrity for testing.

  • Use the computer system for test ordering, lookup, and electronic documentation of specimens and results.

  • Operate point-of-care testing devices and follow quality control procedures as required.

  • Answer telephones professionally, take and verify orders, troubleshoot issues, and perform other duties as assigned to support the clinical team.


Work environment and expectations: This role requires the ability to perform in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress clinical environment. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for prioritizing work, managing interruptions, and ensuring timely, accurate specimen handling.


Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Medical knowledge or prior clinical experience is preferred but not required; training for phlebotomy will be provided. Candidates should demonstrate reliability for rotating shifts, professionalism on the phone, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
