The Laboratory for Translational Therapeutics in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a postdoctoral associate with expertise in molecular biology and in vivo surgical research. The postdoctoral associate will support gene therapy and gene editing studies in small (murine) and large (swine) animal surgical models of cardiovascular disease.
Job duties include executing and assisting in gene therapy studies in small and large surgical animal disease models, acquiring and analyzing physiological data relevant to the model system, performing tissue harvest and molecular/imaging analysis, designing and executing gene editing and molecular cloning experiments, contributing to grant applications and manuscript preparation, and mentoring rotating students.
Minimum qualifications include an MD or Ph.D. in basic science, health science, or a related field. No experience is required. Preferred qualifications include experience in ischemic cardiomyopathy, animal survival surgery, or gene therapy.
