Project Lead Cost Improvement Projects

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Engineering or related field is required.

Relevant Experience (in Yrs):

  • Eng. Degree with 7+ yrs of experience in respective field required
  • A minimum of 5 years of related manufacturing engineering experience required
  • Metal manufacturing technology development background preferred
  • Plastics manufacturing development background preferred
  • Electro-Mechanical Engineering background preferred
  • Metallurgy/Metallurgist experience preferred
  • Six Sigma Certified-Green Belt or higher preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO and GMP regulations preferred

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Lead technical cost improvement design and process development activities including:
  • Understanding of metal, plastic, electro-mechanical technologies and assemblies and processes
  • Ability to lead and interpret part and process characterizations of direct reports
  • Lead/direct the assemblage of qualification (PPAP or similar) documentation and monitor the execution of design changes
  • Mentor engineers to choose best manufacturing processes which achieves highest quality at lowest cost components - utilizing DFM/A
  • Write request for quotes, purchase orders and manage budgets
  • Interface with Suppliers directly or co-jointly with Procurement to plan and author clear design and process requirements to selected Suppliers and assure process capability is achieved.
  • Have some ability to interpret, challenge and direct effective GD&T discussions for critical design requirements when making changes
  • Ability to lead the development of mechanical reliability and strength testing
  • Organize and conducts use of statistical techniques, develop engineering builds, validation protocols, qualify first articles, complete process capability studies & process validation on both internal & supplier processes
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
  • Risk analysis including use of FMEA
  • Multiple Project Planning and execution
  • Cost analysis and recommended solutions
  • Lead Change Management activities within specific OpCo's guidelines:
  • Organizational / communication / planning skills leading multiple cost projects
  • Demonstrated execution of process, product or procedural change management
  • Operates in a matrixed global organization responsible for partnering with R&D, Life Cycle Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Regulatory Affairs
  • Develop talent, organize, plan, lead and execute change management plans
  • Provides structure, direction and decision making to the team
  • Collaborates effectively with key local and cross-franchise partners
  • With oversight and input, defines actions that need to be taken to achieve projects objectives
  • Manages multiple project portfolio to determine impact of planned events and reports timely multiple project status on predefined metric dashboards to management ongoing basis
  • Effectively escalates issues to management on a timely basis to reduce risks
