Psych Registered Nurse Peds

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Psych Registered Nurse Peds to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health and medical care to pediatric patients in an acute and/or outpatient psychiatric setting. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate nursing care for children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health and behavioral conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, developmental and behavioral disorders, and crisis situations.

The Psych Registered Nurse Peds will perform thorough mental health and physical assessments, develop individualized plans of care, administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and provide ongoing patient and family education. You will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, pediatricians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Responsibilities include crisis intervention and de-escalation, suicide risk assessment and monitoring, implementation of therapeutic interventions and behavior management strategies, and maintenance of a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment for patients, families, and staff.

This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with children, adolescents, and their caregivers. You will document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, participate in treatment team meetings and care conferences, and support discharge planning and care coordination with community resources and outpatient providers. The Psych Registered Nurse Peds also plays a key role in patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, coping strategies, and safety planning.
