Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician ensures that in-process and finished powder coating products meet strict quality standards by performing a variety of tests, identifying nonconformances, and supporting corrective actions. This role actively evaluates product quality, performs root cause analysis when issues arise, and has the authority to stop production to protect product integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing on in-process and finished powder coating products to ensure they meet specifications.
• Run various laboratory and production floor tests, including preparing and evaluating spray panels, checking gloss levels, and testing color accuracy.
• Conduct root cause analysis on any out-of-spec or nonconforming products and make clear, actionable recommendations for corrections.
• Confirm the quality of finished products prior to final release and shipment.
• Exercise stop authority when nonconformance is detected, halting production when necessary to maintain quality standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain test results and quality data in SAP.
• Work closely with production personnel by going out to the production area to collect samples and communicate quality findings.
• Demonstrate accountability and ownership over quality decisions, including making timely judgments about product acceptance or rejection.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality within the facility.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience working in quality control within food, pharmaceutical, or chemical environments.
• Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems is a plus.
• Interest in future career growth opportunities, including potential movement into an R&D laboratory environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production and quality teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.64 - $24.64/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
