What It Takes to Keep Quality Strong
- High school diploma or GE Quality inspector with electronic component experience
- IPC/J-STD certification
- Strong background in interpreting component and assembly drawings and performing inspections accordingly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience and knowledge of the statistical inspection process and requirements
- Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controls
On the Floor, Every Shift
- Inspecting electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, components, and parts for conformance to specifications, following blueprints, drawings, and production and assembly manuals.
- Examine layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware, and components to detect assembly errors.
- Perform incoming inspection on all materials to ensure that all Engineering Specifications, MTI Specifications, physical attributes, and conditions of the material conform to requirements, using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Verify all components for placement, polarity, lead prep, part marking, damage, etc.
- Inspect solder connections on PCB circuit boards for conformance to applicable specifications.
- Examine production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
- Record inspection data, such as serial number, type, and percent of defects, and rework required.
