The Retail Sales Lead plays a key role in ensuring a high standard of customer service, floor leadership, and compliance across Elevated Roots retail operations. This role supports daily sales functions by leading the front-of-house team, maintaining operational excellence, and reinforcing company policies and CCC regulations.


The Sales Lead acts as a resource and role model for Sales Associates, demonstrating the Elevated Roots pillars of Elevate, Enhance, and Enlighten through professionalism, product knowledge, and service excellence. This position requires reliable, punctual, and consistent on-site presence to ensure compliance and deliver a seamless guest experience.


This is a full-time, on-site position requiring consistent in-person leadership during scheduled shifts.


Core Responsibilities


Store Leadership & Operations


Lead daily team huddles to align staff on goals, promotions, and compliance reminders.


Handle open cannabis products when preparing display tables, labeling, stickering, or fulfilling customer orders as needed, following all sanitation, security, and access control procedures.


Open and close the store, including arming/disarming alarms, securing tills, and performing vault audits.


Supervise register consolidation, tip counting, and preparation of nightly bank deposits in compliance with store procedures.


Verify completion of all opening and closing checklist tasks; escalate discrepancies to management.


Securely store tills, products, tips, and sensitive materials at the end of each shift.


Assist with weekly METRC inventory audits by verifying counts and compliance (no data entry or adjustments).


Coordinate with Operations leadership on inventory activities and communicate supply or restock needs.


Act as shift lead for front-of-house staff when management is not on site, ensuring consistent compliance and service standards.


Guest Experience & Sales Support


Deliver the Elevated Roots experience by providing exceptional, compliant customer service and education.


Verify all customer IDs and ensure sales are conducted in accordance with CCC regulations (935 CMR 500.105) and company SOPs.


Assist customers with product selection, ensuring recommendations align with their preferences and needs.


Process transactions accurately and efficiently while following all cash-handling procedures.


Resolve customer issues and complaints professionally and promptly; escalate to management when appropriate.


Exercise discretion to refuse or terminate a sale for compliance, safety, or policy reasons, notifying management immediately.


Support the team in achieving daily sales goals and maintaining brand consistency.


Retail Floor & Visual Merchandising


Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing sales tables and displays.


Oversee product card accuracy (strain names, pricing, and THC/CBD content) and update as needed.


Conduct monthly table audits to verify stock levels, product presentation, and compliance accuracy.


Assist with folding, organizing, and tracking branded merchandise and swag inventory.


Collaborate with Operations and Marketing on promotional displays and vendor day setups.


Team & Incident Response


Respond to on-floor calls including flagged IDs, guest incidents, or compliance questions.


Verify IDs that fail to scan or appear suspicious in accordance with CCC and company policies.


Intervene and manage minor guest disturbances or violations (e.g., public consumption) while maintaining professionalism; escalate if necessary.


Refill registers with change and manage mid-shift till swaps as needed.


Report all compliance concerns, theft, or incidents immediately to the Store Manager.


Store Cleanliness & Compliance


Maintain cleanliness of all high-touch and public-facing surfaces including counters, kiosks, tablets, and doors.


Ensure all displays, signage, and product labels meet compliance and brand standards.


Sweep, dust, and restock swag or accessory displays as needed throughout the day.


Support periodic vault change audits and ensure adherence to Elevated Roots cash-handling policies.


Complete additional operational or compliance tasks as assigned by management.


Attendance & Reliability


Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance as an essential function of this role.


Adhere to assigned schedules and provide advance notice of absences or delays in accordance with company policy.


Demonstrate accountability by ensuring assigned responsibilities are covered during scheduled shifts.


Recognize that excessive unscheduled absences or tardiness may impact compliance, operations, and continued employment eligibility.


Salary

$20 - $24 USD per hour

Required Skills

Prior experience in cannabis or retail sales leadership preferred.


Proven ability to coach, motivate, and support a high-performing team.


Strong understanding of cannabis products, dosing, consumption methods, and compliance regulations.


Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.


Dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced, regulated environment.


Proficiency with retail POS systems (e.g., Flowhub, Dutchie) and general computer applications.


Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and ethical conduct.


Must successfully complete all CCC-required Responsible Vendor and Marijuana Establishment Agent trainings prior to performing regulated duties.


Must be 21 years of age or older and eligible for employment in a licensed cannabis facility (background check required).


Variable and frequently changing schedules required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Consistent on-site presence is required during scheduled shifts; remote work is not available for this position.


Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts.


Occasionally lift, move, or carry up to 30 lbs.


Work in a fast-paced retail environment with frequent customer interaction and exposure to cannabis odors.


Maintain awareness of safety, compliance, and guest privacy at all times.
