Lawrence Doors, Inc., a leader in the commercial door industry, is seeking a Roll Forming Machine Operator to work in our Production Line. (TEMP to HIRE.) Must be dependable, mechanical, able to read dimensions and use a tape measure.
Position Overview: The Roll Forming Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining roll forming equipment used in the production of commercial roll-up door components. This includes handling steel coils, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring product quality through inspection and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor roll forming machines to fabricate sheet metal components.
- Use a hoist or crane to safely load and unload steel coils into the machine.
- Make routine machine adjustments and perform basic maintenance.
- Read and interpret work orders, part drawings, and specifications.
- Inspect parts using calipers, gauges, and visual checks.
- Document production data, coil usage, part counts, inspection results, and downtime.
- Maintain organized records for traceability and audits.
- Follow safety policies including lockout/tagout and proper material handling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and support improvements.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 12 years of experience operating roll forming or similar metal fabrication machinery preferred.
- Experience using hoists or cranes to handle steel coils (training/certification a plus).
- Knowledge of 18-to-24-gauge sheet metal properties and safe handling practices.
- Ability to read production drawings and use basic measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and documentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
