Equipment Operator Positions

The City of Boynton Beach is offering positions for Equipment Operator Trainee, Equipment Operator I, Equipment Operator II, and Equipment Operator III within the Solid Waste division. Starting salaries range from $15.75 to $23.43 per hour. The job is full-time and located at Public Works, 222 NE 9th Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL.

The purpose of these classifications is to drive or operate vehicles and other equipment for solid waste removal. Equipment Operator I and II involve primarily driving and maneuvering vehicles, while Equipment Operator III operates more complex, automated equipment.

Essential functions include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, light maintenance, driving trucks and other vehicles, and ensuring the safety of the operator, workers, equipment, and public. Additional functions may include operating various trucks and equipment, navigating routes electronically, and performing physical work functions.

Minimum qualifications vary by level, requiring experience in solid waste residential line of business, manual collection, and possession of a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Additional training and certifications are required within ninety days of hire.

Selected candidates will be required to complete an assessment. Knowledge of safe working practices, solid waste standards, and the ability to detect mechanical issues with equipment are essential. Physical ability to exert heavy work effort and sensory requirements to communicate orally are also necessary.
