School Bus Driver

The Niskayuna Central School District is now accepting applications for Probationary School Bus Drivers.

SALARY: Probationary School Bus Driver $26.25 per hour; Substitute School Bus Driver $25.00 per hour

ASSIGNMENT: Transportation; 10 months per year; Shifts typically vary between 4-8 hours per day

GENERAL INFORMATION: This position involves responsibility for the operation of a school bus in the transporting of children to and from school-related activities. A school bus driver is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway allowed the operator in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Drivers must be at least 21 years of age with possession of appropriate certified driver's license.

All Bus Drivers must also meet requirements imposed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the New York State Education Department (SED) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). Individuals must posssess a NYS DMV Commercial (Class B) license. Individuals who do not have a Class B license, may be eligible for Paid School Bus Driver Training. During the training process, individuals earn subsitute pay which is paid after 6 months of driving time.
